The shops at San Bernardo...

My name is Joel, I’m part of the CVB staff and I will take you on a journey around our favorite city in Texas, Laredo!

Our first stop is on San Bernardo Avenue, Laredo’s original main street. Home to almost 40 blocks of Mexican import shops, this unique array of stores appeal to everyone, from the trailer-hauling customer to the tourist who just wants to pick up that something special to bring back home. With a variety of wares and festive atmosphere, these import shops give tourists the feeling of being in Mexico without having to cross the border.

We visited three of the most representative stores in the corridor, where you will find products like:
·         Hand-blown glass
·         Rustic furniture
·         Talavera pottery
·         Pewter gifts
·         Hand embroidered textiles
·         And much more…

*Basket and Pottery Alley 3519 San Bernardo Ave.  956.724.2415
Anything and everything you need to host your mexican themed party, and decorate your house all in one trip.

Shopping is always fun (especially for the ladies…) so I recruited a companion for my San Bernardo shopping experience. She had a blast selecting her favorite party must-haves.

She even found some ideas for Christmas gifts, too bad I had to carry all the shopping bags!

*Taide's Import Warehouse 2602 San Bernardo Ave.  956.722.0682
A variety of home furnishings at affordable prices, full of treasures to discover.

Every time I go to this store I find myself looking at the horses.
I think I should get one for my office!

There are so many things to discover in Taide's wherever you look you see colorful and interesting items. My companion had never been to the store and she couldn't help grabbing a bag and shopping her way around. She wanted to buy everything!

When you go into this store I'm sure you will recognize some giveaways from past TACVB meetings!

*Vega's Interiores Mejicanos 4002 San Bernardo Ave. 956.724.8251
Decorator's paradise, where you can find hand crafted rustic home furnishings

In words of my companion, "When you go in to this store you get transported into a place like San Miguel de Allende, Mexico"

This is such a colorful place, picking just one item is definitely impossible!

While looking around we came across some good ideas for conference giveaways...

We had such a great time visiting the different stores in San Bernardo Avenue that we can't wait to show you around.
