Sleeping under the Laredo sky

Are you ready for our next adventure in Laredo, Texas?

One of the most essential elements in planning the perfect trip is choosing the ideal place for relaxation and recreation.
Whether you’re looking for a historic hotel in the downtown district or a suite just a few minutes from the airport, Laredo offers a wide variety of accommodations to match your pocketbook and travel needs.

This time I will show you some of our amazing hotels, so you have an idea of where to stay next time you visit Laredo.

*La Posada Hotel - 1000 Zaragoza Street - 956-722-1701

Located in historic downtown Laredo, this full service hotel has been around for 50 years.
The legendary boutique hotel surrounds four historic buildings and recently underwent a $17 million renovation.
La Posada also features two award-winning restaurants, Zaragoza Grill (recently named one of the Top Best 50 Mexican Restaurants by Texas Monthly Magazine) and The Tack Room.

We begin our journey with a warm welcome from the front desk staff. They are very friendly and gave us information to all the ammenities the hotel offers!

The rooms are very cozy, and the hotel offers free WiFi,
so I was able to check how the Cowboys were doing!

There are so many opportunities to relax in this hotel,
like sitting by the pool and enjoying the warm weather

La Posada Hotel is both a walk through history and a perfect getaway.

*Holiday Inn-Civic Center - 800 Garden Street - 956.727.5800

With easy access from IH-35, this recently renovated property offers not only a convenient location but the amenities of a well know brand. The Holiday Inn is a full service property equipped with a complete business center and wireless internet throughout the hotel for all guests. The Terraza Verde Restaurant serves a great variety of cuisine, from Mexican food, to steaks and seafood.

We arrived at the Holiday Inn on a chilly day (yes, 60's is cold for us!).
The front desk at Holiday Inn was very helpful, they make you feel at home from the moment you check in.

Who doesn't want a comfortable bed and a spacious room when traveling? Holiday Inn offers all that, plus a unique view of San Bernardo Avenue, Laredo's best kept secret (remember our last entry?).

If you are looking for a good restaurant, go no further than the lobby of the hotel.
We had breakfast at The Terraza Verde, there were so many options,
luckily our friendly waiter was able to suggest a few of his personal favorites.

*Embassy Suites Hotel - 110 Calle del Norte - 956.723.9100
Just three miles from Laredo Innterantional Airport and in the heart of Laredo this award winning hotel is located minutes away from the most exclusive shopping district. Here you will experience the comfort of spacious accommodations and delight in the exciting choices for dining, entertainment and recreation. Enjoy the pleasure of attentive service, gracious hospitality and outstanding quality.

The friendly staff at the Embassy Suites described all the amenities the hotel has,
it is amazing all you can do without leaving the property.

Some might say breakfast is the most important meal of the day but for me EVERY meal is the most important meal of the day! Especially if its cooked to order!

The rooms are comfortable with a great layout, I can be watching the Cowboys game
while my companion is getting ready to go shopping!

We had a great time during our visit to Embassy Suites, enjoying
the food and excellent service!

The shops at San Bernardo...

My name is Joel, I’m part of the CVB staff and I will take you on a journey around our favorite city in Texas, Laredo!

Our first stop is on San Bernardo Avenue, Laredo’s original main street. Home to almost 40 blocks of Mexican import shops, this unique array of stores appeal to everyone, from the trailer-hauling customer to the tourist who just wants to pick up that something special to bring back home. With a variety of wares and festive atmosphere, these import shops give tourists the feeling of being in Mexico without having to cross the border.

We visited three of the most representative stores in the corridor, where you will find products like:
·         Hand-blown glass
·         Rustic furniture
·         Talavera pottery
·         Pewter gifts
·         Hand embroidered textiles
·         And much more…

*Basket and Pottery Alley 3519 San Bernardo Ave.  956.724.2415
Anything and everything you need to host your mexican themed party, and decorate your house all in one trip.

Shopping is always fun (especially for the ladies…) so I recruited a companion for my San Bernardo shopping experience. She had a blast selecting her favorite party must-haves.

She even found some ideas for Christmas gifts, too bad I had to carry all the shopping bags!

*Taide's Import Warehouse 2602 San Bernardo Ave.  956.722.0682
A variety of home furnishings at affordable prices, full of treasures to discover.

Every time I go to this store I find myself looking at the horses.
I think I should get one for my office!

There are so many things to discover in Taide's wherever you look you see colorful and interesting items. My companion had never been to the store and she couldn't help grabbing a bag and shopping her way around. She wanted to buy everything!

When you go into this store I'm sure you will recognize some giveaways from past TACVB meetings!

*Vega's Interiores Mejicanos 4002 San Bernardo Ave. 956.724.8251
Decorator's paradise, where you can find hand crafted rustic home furnishings

In words of my companion, "When you go in to this store you get transported into a place like San Miguel de Allende, Mexico"

This is such a colorful place, picking just one item is definitely impossible!

While looking around we came across some good ideas for conference giveaways...

We had such a great time visiting the different stores in San Bernardo Avenue that we can't wait to show you around.
